Wellness Coaching
Often, when dealing with health challenges, we need the space to unpack what is happening with our bodies before we can brainstorm solutions. This can be difficult to do with friends or family because they often struggle to know what to say or give well-meaning but poorly informed advice. There is never enough time with the doctor. This can lead to feeling isolated, frustrated, and overwhelmed with understanding what is going on with our bodies and what to do about it.
My story:
I’ve been there. When my leg suddenly paralyzed in 2015, I had no clue what to do or who to even talk to. I would try to talk to friends about it, but it would always end up with some whacky woo-woo advice or just get weird. I honestly don’t know which was worse. That time is the loneliest and most isolated I have felt in my life. My leg paralysis is why I went into physical therapy and why I created this wellness space.
What coaching is:
Wellness coaching is designed to give you the space to unpack what is happening with your body, without judgment and, definitely, without poorly informed advice. It is a sacred space where you can let it out, cry, vent, and process what is going on in your body, as well as a structured space to help you brainstorm and develop real and relevant solutions that will make life easier and more manageable.
Here are examples of what past clients have worked on:
Understanding and mapping out the cycle of symptoms so life can feel more predictable;
Identifying sensory issues and difficulties with executive function so accommodations can be made to reduce burnout;
Investigating factors contributing to burnout and strategizing how to return to life in a sustainable way; and
Navigating multiple chronic illnesses and learning how to advocate for oneself in healthcare and work settings.
What you can expect:
The first coaching session is a vibe check to make sure we are a good fit for each other. We will talk about what is going on recently, any relevant past health history, and what you would love to do or get back to. By the end of the session, I will lay out a sketch of what we could work on and how long it would take to complete. I am always honest with my scope of knowledge and expertise. That means, if I don’t think I am familiar enough with what is happening, I will help find you someone who is.
